I've a friend with a P245 set up DA/SA. He likes the pistol, but really wants something in DAO. He is looking around to trade it towards the same gun in DAO. I am wondering if it is possible for this pistol to be converted, either at the factory or by a SIG armorer?

Yes, it is possible, and has been done. The hammer and some other small parts are changed, and the decocking lever deleted. This looks a bit odd as the grip panel - which is relieved for the decocker to sweep through its arc - is not changed, but has no effect on function. The pull will be the same as the original first-shot DA, all the time; the length of the stroke is not changed. Sigarms can convert it, and upon request can reduce the pull weight to about 10 lbs.

I have a P245 that was converted to DAO by its previous owner. I dont know if SIG did the work or someone else, but it had a very nice trigger and worked well. I converted it back to DA/SA as I prefer commonality with my other SIG's and it keeps things simple. Still has a nice trigger and works well. The previous owner was nice enough to leave the original parts with the gun, and it was an easy swap.

There's a kit out there that has all of the neccesary parts, can be done for <$30. I'd look it up, but I'm out the door. Midway sells it, if that helps.
