Regarding the Armalite AR-180B, I had inquired to Armalite if they had any plans to offer the rifle with a folding stock, similar to the original AR-18/180. This was their reply, per Rob Kelley at Armalite:

We have no plans for the folding stocks on the AR-180B.

Just passing this along in case anyone was interested.

The stock is made in one piece with the lower reciever (all polymer) so they'd have to have a folder and non-folder version. Not economically feasible, since 180B's aren't exactly flying off the shelf yet.

If they'd drop the plastic lower/stock assembly and go back to making one like on the real AR-180 had, they just might fly off the shelves faster.:D

It also might help if they tried pricing it a little less than an AR15. Even though the AR180/AR18 rifle has been around for a while, it's still a novelty in the US shooting community. They need to price it right to lure buyers away from the familiar AR15.

The lower receiver and butt stock on an AR-180B are not one peice I have an original 180 and my friend has both. The AR-180B butt stock is held on with a bolt like a shotgun stock. It would not be to hard to make a folding stock that would work. One might even be able to get the original stock to do so by adding a hinge and latch between the stock and reciver (it might add to the length of pull slightly).

In my talking with Armalite, they have told me that the post-AWB AR-180Bs will have flash hiders and bayonet lugs, but no folding stock. :(

As others have said, the AR-180B stock IS removeable. About six months ago I remember reading something on the internet posted by a Canadian who turned is AR-180B stock into a folder but I can't seem to find it now.

If Armalite doesn't make a folding stock, hopefully somebody will make one aftermarket. I'd love to have a folder on my AR180B.

Regarding the polymer lower -- I'd much rather have that than the original AR180s stamped fire control components! The polymer lower is fine. I want to see an AR160 and better optics mounting options.

Considering the AR in AR-15 stands for Armalite, I seriously doubt that this will happen...

I see the AR-180B almost the same way I see Bushmaster's M17S. Both companies are paying their bills easily with their AR-15 sales, but their lesser-known stuff could stand a little more development.

Personally, I'd like to see a company purchase both designs (M17S and AR-180B) and their corresponding patents. Then, more accessories would be available for these two (which they need, sadly) and more options.

In a perfect world, maybe...
