Hi, didn't find a thread so I made this.

After watching the movie Shooter, made me want to buy a .308 bolt action.
I am looking for a wood furniture 20-22" barrel. Anybody have suggestions?

Post pics of bolt actions please. Thanks

1st Gen FN SPR with prototype McMillan A5 stock (pillar bedded by GA Precision), Williams steel bottom metal with tactical latch, Badger tactical bolt knob, Badger 20MOA base and rings, and Leupold 3.5-10 M3 mildot scope.

My 'sniper rifle'

Mossberg ATR-100 in .30-06, Simmons 3-9x50 scope, and some FMJ ammo. Have a couple of boxes of Federal Match ammo for serious long-distance stuff.

USSR, sorry to burst your bubble but your stock is not a prototype unless its off of or attached to Gale McMillan's M82 prototype sniper rifle. I worked for Gale McMillan back in the early 90's and we used this stock for alot of our military and police sniper rifle contracts. I personaly built several hundred rifles there with this stock. Dont get me wrong it is an excellent stock but unless you have Gale McMillans personal rifle that was built with the prototype A5 stock yours is not a prototype.

Foghorn,

I'm with you on the Mossberg 100ATR, except mine is in .270.

I also put a folding bipod on mine, does that make it more "sniperish"??

glimmerman,

It is indeed a prototype of the McMillan A5 stock. I don't know what stock you are talking about, because the A5 has only been around for 5 or 6 years, and Gale McMillan had passed away. I was one on 12 individuals chosen by Kelly McMillan to test and evaluate this new stock design using input from myself and fellow members of Sniper's Hide. Here is the review I wrote about it, and last time I knew, part of the review was posted on McMillan's website.

Rem 700 LTR .308 with Nikon scope.

Looking at putting a Leupold Mark 4 LRT M1 10x40 Mil-dot on it, but I have to pay off some big bills before I can really seriously consider it, maybe Santa will bring me one for Christmas:D

anyone have input on this rifle?

have been looking at the weatherby mark V also, but kinda pricey. I know i wont shoot this as much as my mini-14/ar15s/ak47

Are the savage models any good?good as in accuracy, reliability, 1000yds distance shooting.

Robar'd Winchester M70 Stealth .308, HS Precision stock, with a Lilja 26" bull barrel, topped by Badger rail & rings, and a Leupold Mark 4 LR/T 6.5-20x50. This gun can make 1/2" groups -- when I do my part -- at 200 yards using either A-MAX handloads or FGMM 168gr. SMK-HPBT factory loads.
