If you keep a spreadsheet maybe we could get chrono data for handgun calibers going.

Obviously huge disclaimer that if load data exists within the info you should not use it!

Here is a perfect example of why. I shoot USPSA and compete in 9mm minor against 9mm major.. If I pick up a round I find on the ground and shoot it in my pistol a good chance i'm going to the hospital.

Try not to get this thread locked by posting irresponsible/dangerous info.

I dont really have any data other than this(no chrono). I was trying to work up a 9mm minor load in my compact.

Try to include OAL and model of the gun EX.
4.8gr WSF 1.1 OAL M&P9c average 1046fps average

MrWesson, I have to ask "why" you are shooting 9 minor against limited/open class 9 major.

I also pick up 9mm brass and shoot production class. I probably have picked up many 9 major cases, but haven't gone to the hospital yet. The 9 major case will likely show overpressure signs (primer/case itself but not always). If you are loading one that doesn't show obvious overpressure signs, you may feel the difference in your press. If none of this happens, it'll probably shoot just fine. Inspect your brass.

Then why give it at all in your example?

I recommend a chrono if you compete.

I don't have a place to set up a chrono(shoot at indoor ranges) and the only load I have chrono'd was my production load with someone elses(my example).

At the moment I "compete" with limited due to a lack of magazines to shoot production(they are coming next week). I have a good time and place in the middle of the pack with my M&P9c(a different thread/shoot what you carry).

124gr 9mm major is 1331fps and some guys are obviously shooting higher FPS than that just be sure so lets say 1350. That is over +P+ pressure standards.
Go to the hospital may be an over exaggeration but I was also trying to make a point not to use internet loads.

I see very little interest in this thread either people don't own chronos or the ones who do aren't willing to share.

I'm honestly not trying to just be negative, but what you are asking for is a chrono'd list of everyone's loads. Just pistol & bullet speed doesn't really give you anything useful.

Reloaders will sometimes 'compare' or pass on a load/loads that work for them; but generally won't list all their loads or do someone elses work for them.
If you ask for specific advice on a powder or bullet, someone is likely to help right away. If you ask for a "speed" with your powder, bullet and load, you'll probably get several replies.

Ask again for a speed with your load data and you'll get a number of people to respond.

By the way, I give a shooting friend a hard time; because he doesn't mark his 9 major cases. I never pick up a marked case.

I don't really need any load data personally(ive spent countless hours searching books/internet for chrono data). It was just an attempt at making a thread that contained something of value to someone else looking for chrono/load info. No biggie

I also thought it would be interesting to have multiple handgun calibers in one place for FPS comparison(like .380+p fps vs 9mm).

Ok, here is some data for the masses (chrono/cal for OP and load data for et al)... Keep in mind a couple of things:
1. Data was obtained at nearly 5,900 feet and will be faster than someone at sea level.
2. If I'm a smidge over max it is because I consciously chose to use the "closest" setting for my powder drop. i.e. Next "bin" up = closer to target.

9mm Luger
Bullet = 124gr FMJ RN (Remington - bulk)
C.O.A.L = 1.150
Primer = CCI small pistol
Powder = 8.5 grs Blue Dot (Max = 8.2 USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!)
AVE vel Glock 17 = 1324fps
AVE vel Kel Tec Sub 2000 = 1580-1600fps
Notes: Dirty... Great out of a carbine (on target @200 yards).

9mm Luger
Bullet = 124gr FMJ RN (Remington - bulk)
C.O.A.L = 1.150
Primer = CCI small pistol
Powder = 6.8 grs VV 3N37 (Max = 6.5 USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!)
AVE vel Glock 17 = 1257fps
AVE vel Kel Tec Sub 2000 = 1462fps
Notes: Very clean, low standard deviation, meters great, but little gain out of a carbine.
