Looking for more Ramshot Zip 9mm load data. Currrently using 4.0g with 124g PD at 1.13 OAL and they seem soft/tame. Shot up my chrono so not sure of fps. I will be making some 124g Lee TL boolits soon and would like to try this. Some say this is the same as W231-HP38 but the data and powder look different to me. Shooting USPSA with it so just minor PF is fine (which I should be getting with 4.0gs - but just making it). 4.0 is max according to Ramshot but it seems very conservative to me.

I think you are on the light side with 4.0 grs. as I am using 3.9 in my 125 gr. cast bullet reloads, used for target practice. I believe I did cronograph them at about 950 fps. out of my Sig 226. I think if you want more stout loads, Zip would not be a good choice as I believe it was intended for lite to medium loads. LM

if w231=hp38=zip then I'm loading HP-38 124g FMJ at 4.5g now. The Ramshot data only goes to 4.0. I'm pretty sdure I can go to 4.5 if they are the same.... whats the evidence that they are?

If you call Ramshot they will tell you that ZIP is from Belgium so ZIP does not equal HP-38/W231 they're just similar.;)

Assuming that you have downloaded Ramshots load data from their website, the loads with Zip have a relatively low velocity in the 9mm but there's nothinglow about the pressures listed for the maximum loads. If you feel the need for higher velocities I'd suggest a different powder like True Blue if you want to stick with Ramshot powders. Power Pistol, Win Auto Comp, Universal, Unique, AA#5, HS6 are all good powders for 124/125gr full velocities in the 9mm.

I added a lbs when AA5 was back ordered. I shot a bunch again today at 4.0g. Really soft but I'm pretty sure I'm barely making PF if that. Going to try 4.0 with LRN to get more velocity with same charge.
