Hello All!

As can bee seen in Rifle Country, there are lots of groups being posted and accuracy claims and what-not. I'm not trying to start an accuracy war here, but for those of us who have taken a few pictures, we should post them. I have a lot to learn, and more training to do with the .40, but I do feel warm and fuzzy when shooting the 9mm I've had for almost a decade now (I am a youngin').

Let us know:
1 - The Make and Model of Handgun
2 - The caliber
3 - Distance from the target
4 - Position/Grip/or Stance
5 - Number of rounds fired
6 - Relative speed of fire.

Here are 2. Both targets are 4" diameter, each line delineating 1/2 an inch.

First up,
1 - A Sig 228
2 - 9mm ;)
3 - 7 yards from target
4 - Standing, modified weaver, with a thumbs forward grip
5 - 15 rounds fired (entire meg gar mag)
6 - Moderate speed shooting, about a round each second (not high speed shooting, just enough time to get sights back on target and squeeze that sweet, ever-so-slick SA Sig trigger).

NEXT:
1 - A Sig 229ST Elite
2 - .40 S&W
3 - 7 yards from target
4 - Standing, modified weaver, with a thumbs forward grip
5 - 14 rounds fired (entire Sig SCT mag) some went through other rounds' holes.
6 - Moderate speed shooting, about a round each second

I wish that I had something to show but the ranges around here have been packed with all of the new post-Obama panic gun owners trying out their guns.

1 - Glock 17
2 - 9mm
3 - 15 meters
4 - Standing, isosceles stance, with a thumbs forward grip
5 - 34 rounds
6 - 1 round per 2 seconds

1 - Glock 17
2 - 9mm
3 - 15 meters
4 - Standing, isosceles stance, with a thumbs forward grip
5 - 5/10 rounds
6 - 1 round per 3 seconds

This from a while ago, but If I recall...that's 24 rounds at something like 7 to 10 yards. I love those "shoot & see" targets.:D

Very nice shooting all!!! Keep 'em comming!

I do also like the shoot and see targets, but nothing beats a free .pdf!!!

Shot at 7 yards. 10 shots and 9 shots. 696 .44 Spl & XD SC .40

1 - Sig P220
2 - .45 ACP
3 - 15ft
4 - Standing, with a thumbs forward grip
5 - 8 rounds

Started in the center, 1:00, 5:00, 7:00 then the last 4 in about 5 sec.
First time out with this gun. Second time shooting targets.

this was the first 14rds that i fired ot of my first ever 1911, it was at the indoor range, 7yds, in a fighting stance, moderate cadence of fire, factory umc ammo. just getting the hang of the trigger and such, since then i can shoot much better with it.
mcsagroup1-2.jpg

this is a target that i shot with my pride and joy my xd service model in .40 with factory wwb. shot form the prone. The three hits on the lower right corner was from the 50yd line, when i aimed center mass, the next two holes up from that is when i readjusted my point of aim for elevation, and the last whole the one at the top is my 100yd shot, and the reason there is only one is because i shot it and then i stopped i wanted to end the range session on a good note.

A little practical exercise, again using the xd service model. with factory ammo, this time ultramax. this was 15-20rds IIRC. from the holster a pair to the head of the bg for each iteration, form concealment. at 7yds.

1) Too easy

2) got it

3) ok

4) my grip is constant, either 2 hands with thumbs foward or a canted one hand if i am shooting strong or weak.

5) Generally the amount of rounds that i fire is detrmined by my shooting partner.

6) and most importantly for me to point out is the fact that i don't do a lot of target shooting, i train for a fight not a comp or hitting a 10 ring, i don't do any bench rest shooting because that will not help me in a fight. so i shoot as fast as i can while still getting the hits that i need too. The things that affect my balance of speed (how fast i shoot) and precision (how tight i need to keep the rounds) are...

1) the size of the target
2) the distance to the target
3) The circumstances under which I shoot
4) The anticipation of the need to shoot (which really dosen't apply at the square range.)

All these targets shot standing and unsupported at the stated yardages. Proper revolver and semi-auto grips, with firearms gripped as high as possible of course. All shot from the Isosceles Stance.

The gun, sighted for 75 yards . . .

. . . and the 50 yard, standing/unsupported target . . .

I've taken a lot of deer with this rig in the past decade plus.

The gun . . . a 1980 S&W 25-2 .45ACP revolver with the barrel chopped to 3 1/4" . . .

. . . and some 10 yard 1" black square targets shot with the M25-2 (plus some shot with my Ruger MII target model .22LR pistol). Note, I pictured a M36 snubbie for contrast in size . . .

AND SPEAKIN' OF HOW THAT SNUBBIE SHOOTS . . .
A 1964 Model 36 S&W .38 Spl. snubbie and target (a 1" square), shot from 10 yards, standing/unsupported:

Didn't you forget the speed of movement or potential of movement of your target? ;) Maybe that falls under the circumstances in #3. Hopefully a reasonable apprehension does as well.

I'm not asking for morgue pictures here, or combat accuracy claims or such ( I know there are plenty of that out there ). This is simply a paper-punching thread, and nobody's less of a shooter by posting a few targets here and there, even if they're not part of their regular confrontation training. BTW, I do like that 1911; sweet weapon.

Iron sights. One hand. Standing. Stainless Kimber Custom II. 1911 45acp. 10 shot each target. 200gn H&G LSWC.

Slow fire is 10 rounds in 10 minutes, but I usually shoot 10 rounds in less than five minutes. I don't have any photos of Timed 5rnds/20seconds, or Rapid fire (5rnds/10seconds) at the moment. I'll do some digging.

Slowfire @ 50yds

Slowfire @ 25yds

yes that would fall right under #3 perfect example.

Shot this afternoon with my new (to me) pistol, a Para Ordinance P14-45 LDA Limited, at 1" square black targets on a single sheet of copy paper. Distance: 10 yards. Ammo: Remington yellow box 230 grain hardball from Wally World. I can't wait to try it with some good stuff!

Looks like this one's a keeper!
