return to that board and have become a member due to the reasoned

I have several guns all self defense type as I no longer hunt, since I figured out I knew more men that needed killing than animals. Fortunately I have never needed to use any for self defense but when traveling I have felt a lot more secure in strange motels and if ever stranded by the side of the road.

I believe well-meaning liberals are beating a dead horse on the gun issue and it will never be overturned and it only gives us a weak-kneed Nelly reputation. As that site shows responsible gun owners are good citizens maybe we need more of them on this board. Gun owners that is! If you noticed they are very concerned
about all of our civil rights and they are not all freepers, mayhhap we could use them as allies in our cause, with the same kind of reasoned response most of them showed the questioner.
 
MB, good move posting that link on DU. I visit there from time to time, and I think this one may just have a "ripple effect" among the more sane members over there (yes, I know many of them are not sane, but you can't win 'em all...).
 
Wow.....I read about 4 posts over there and I feel physically sick.

You have to love this line: "Stay away from gun nut boards.

Sure....the people on your board are completely open minded and open to logical non confrontational debate. :rolleyes:

If it's democratic, why is it underground? :D

I seriously believe most of those people are mentally ill.....

I used to harass them, but it's just not worth it....:)
 
A couple of decent responses (made me suspect that some of you guys were undercover in the Underground). Other than that, I could feel my IQ dropping with each post I read.

Heh - Yeah, I think that more than a few folks who just plain don't like guns _know_ deep in their psyches that they'd be the ones who'd go on a rampage - So, they seek to transfer this to other people.... More than a few times I've heard folks say "I just couldn't have one of those in my house - I just know I'd shoot someone."

Pretty weird... And if you wanna get a few laughs at someone's expense, agree with them, and let them know that you're very grateful that they've realized their mental health issues, and that you're glad that they're seeking help with their anger issues. They _are_ seeking help, right? (look VERY concerned as they start to grow purple...)

A few years ago, when Missouri was having the referendum on concealed carry, I got into a discussion... The person I was talking with couldn't grasp the difference between a legally armed person, and a criminal. He told me that if he was in a restaurant, and knew that someone was carrying a concealed handgun, he'd "grab a steak knife and stab them before they could shoot everyone." He failed to realize that his hypothesized actions were INCREDIBLY violent, given the circumstances.

You'll find that many "gun nuts" are incredibly peaceful people. The fact that we have the means at hand to make the command "please go away and don't bother me" actually work at times enables this.
