Does anyone here load for the .280 Remington caliber? If so what powders do you have the best results with? I am wanting to start loading some 140gr and 150gr bullets for mine. Thanks
I load .280 for a Browning A-Bolt and a Rem. 700. I have had the best results with Reloder 22 and IMR 4831. My current favorite loads are with 140 gr Barnes TSXs and 160 gr Nosler Partitions. I can work up to about 2950fps with 140s and maybe 2750 with 160s with either powder. The A-Bolt has a 22" barrel and the 700 has a 24", but they shoot about the same MV.
I have worked up loads using these powders with 139 gr Hornady Interlocks, 140 gr Nosler Accubonds, and 150 gr Nosler Ballistic tips as well. Performance has been pretty uniform across the board.
I have also tried H4831SC and Reloder 19. The accuracy was about the same as the other two, but velocity was about 100fps less. Both rifles shoot most loads in the MOA range.
I know a hunter who has hunted around the world with a .280, including several African safaries , using nothing but 140 gr Nosler partitions over IMR 4350. Hard to argue with experience like that.
I've used both IMR 4350 & Reloader 19 for my Ruger 280 Rem. My most accurate load by far is a Hornady 139 gr. SST over 56.0 gr. of RL19. I use Lee dies and a slight crimp from the Lee factory crimp die.
Maybe the other question should be, what powders do you have in stock to load the 280?
Recommendations don't mean much if you don't have any, or can't get any. The powder shortages are hurting quite a few.

Agreed! My Buddy and I,because we both reloaded for the .270 Winchester, bought 10 LBS. of 4064 three years ago. All of my hunting rifles are fine with the powder and my friends that hunt with my reloads in several calibers have no complaints.
I agree with X-Rap, IMR 4350 is a great place to start. I started there and was happy with my results, so it's the only powder I've used with .280
My rifle likes 160gr bullets. Best groups I've gotten so far have been with 50.4gr of 4350 with Hornady 162gr BTSP bullets.
I really like this cartridge. Surprised that it's not more popular. Can't find my photo of my 100 yard groups so I'll just attach this picture of the rifle itself instead...
