Just wondering how the powder situation is around your area. I was taken away today when I went into my LGS and was able to pick up some CFE Pistol, and Varget in the same day.

Agreed Paul, if rifle powder were water I would have drowned a long time ago, its been about 5 months since i"ve seen any pistol powder here

A month ago we had all types of powder at my LGS. Now there is only rifle powder. Luckily all types of primers are available.

Not much pistol powder in the upstate SC area, but plenty of rifle. Not seen anything I could use for pistol since Cabela's grand opening in Greenville (been downhill ever since). Some powders like HP38, Unique and Universal, I've not seen in 6-8 months. Alliant pistol powders, in particular, have been MIA for a long while now.

slim pickings

The Pacific northwest is a little dry lately as well. Pistol powder is mia with a few rifle powders hitting store shelves on rare occasion. Primers are abundant but useless without powder. This situation is beyond frustrating. Next time I find so e AA5, 7 or 9 I am going to buy as many as allowed same goes for IMR4350 and H380. Best of luck fo ya'.:banghead:

It's tough finding pistol and shotgun powders in northern Virginia. Rifle powder is available even though not abundant. For once I was smart enough to get pounds of my frequently used powders before they disappeared. I should be good for a few years. :D

It also helps more and more of my shooting is with BP guns of various types and black powder has been available.

Jeff

nothing in my part of the internet. nothing in my part of texas either. I don't know where it is going, but it's not making it to the shelves.

On the internet it seems nonexistent.

Locally, most shops have rifle powders. Pistol powders are almost impossible to find. I was REALLY close to running out and then found a few pounds of Red Dot locally that should keep me running for a while.

I saw AR Comp, BLC2, Varget, H322, Win 296 and 760, and many IMR powders together yesterday. I haven't seen that in a while. All 1lb containers and all overpriced.

There is a place a fellow reloder told me about a LGS in Newport ME that had some assorted pistol powder on the shelves recently. I remembered they had primers all along as well. So I took a little road trip up to see if I need any of what they had. There was indeed some pistol powder there, quite a lot of one pound containers------ all at $65+ a pound. I needed nothing that badly so I left it for those more needy than I. Also remembered why the primers were there, $5.50 a hundred and 3 box max per week at the time. I offered to sell them some of my CCI's for $4.00 a hundred at the time instead and they declined.:D Everything is still sitting there gathering dust to this day I am willing to bet.;)

I saw some CFE pistol on the net today, limit of 4lbs and by the time you add the fees and shipping it came out to around $35 a lb. not terrible but not good. I have enough to last a while at that price.

Southern SC here. Lots of rifle powder, and a LGS seems to have a source for Red Dot. It has been on the shelf for 5+ weeks at $25/lb. Not a great price, but not what I would call gouging.

I am learning loads for Red Dot in all my pistol calibers.

If handgun/shotgun powder was being made we'd be seeing some in my opinion. Distributors aren't even getting any to speak of.

I get all my powder from Midsouth, and they've been dry most of the time. While they've been sold out of the ones I wanted, they've had IMR 8208, 4320 and 4064, forcing me to try new powders. When they do have powder, the prices are good, about 21$/lb

California is cleaned out, but we have more of a justified panic here.

Projectiles and primers are more abundant however.

At those prices I hope you get dinner and a kiss.

Seems to be getting a little better, still not good. Pistol/shotgun powder is in short suppply and .22LRs are made of unobtainium....

north west dry pistol powder not seen in a very long time rifle powder hit and miss when
it does come in only a few pounds and a long line waiting for store to open. if your at the
right place at the right time then a slight possible chance

Saw red dot, unique, and hs6 in 1lb's and 700x 4 lb's a couple weeks ago here in S. Central TX. Grabbed 2 unique, and pinched myself. The owner is a wholesaler for Alliant and said he was notified the "big box stores" were getting first priority. So check the big retailers.
