On another forum, a poster said that a powder dispenser, throwing 4895 for a Garand will be more accurate in the long run...as opposed to weighing the charge.

In the Lyman manual they say to set your Powder Dispenser to throw slightly less and then trickle it to the proper charge. This seems the more reasonable and accurate way of doing this.

What would you do for 4895 for a Garand?

the answer depends on whether you are an adherent of the school that says accuracy relies more on consistent volume than consistent weight or vice versa

Well...I am new to the entire hobby of reloading, so I haven't made any conclusions regarding volume vs weight.

I suggest a test. Load 24 rounds(3 clips) using a powder measure and then load 24 rounds weighing each charge; keeping all other components the same. Then hang 2 separate 100yd targets and fire 3 clips at one and 3 clips at the other target. Compare target groups and you will have your answer. I load for a NM garand and use a powder measure so you know my answer.
