I use mostly W231 for both as well as most other handgun calibers. If you would rather use an Accurate Arms powder I have used AA#5 and it also works well.

(gota love the guys suggesting Hodgdon Universal when the OP specifically asked for powders other than those with a Hodgdon label)

If you want to use a Ball Powder either the WST or WSF is a good choice. The WST is the cleanest powder you will ever use on 45acp. The problem is that there is not a lot of load data on it. The Load Data Books for specific calibers have it listed. Now if you load shotgun the WST is used for 12 ga and the WSF is 20 ga powder. I have been using this powder for shotguns since the 70's. But back then it had a different name 540 (20ga), 452AA (12 ga). Both of these are a fine ball powder and flow easily and are high bulk. Meaning a double charge will over fill the case. The flake powders can be a BIG problem if your use a AP press. With large flake powder you normally have to do triple taps to settle the powder between dumps to get a consistent charge.

231 is another powder that pretty good too. Just remember most powders have an optimum charge for a clean burn, too low and they are sooty. The idea of using one powder is not a good choice in most cases. But this combo is one of the few that's work pretty good.
