Been working with Longshot over the last couple of years and it’s quickly becoming my favorite powder for a variety of pistol rounds. So far I’ve marked the following as most accurate loads:

9MM 115 gr RMR FMJ
10MM 180 gr XTreme plated FP
.40 Cal 180 gr XTreme plated FP
.45 ACP 230 gr Berry’s Hybrid HP

Case in point, worked up the .45 ACP load and the upper right was the result at 15 yds indoor (minus the 1 flier).

Also tried LS in .357 Sig but wasn’t as accurate as I wanted.

I have 3 lbs left and am seriously considering a couple of 4 lb buys.

I’m using in 1 1/4 oz shotgun loads for hunting. Almost 150 fps faster than my old “go to” HS6. And less pressure. Next project is using it for 1 3/8 oz loads.

I did talk to a guy that tried it on 1 1/8 oz loads and he said it worked fine but his barrel heated up too much, noticeably more than faster powders. But for a hunting load, that’s not a concern for me.

I bought it originally for pistol but now it’s saved for shotgun.

It turns 1 1/8 oz soft chilled #6 into lightning bolts for close range pheasant, grouse and rabbit. I run it with a Fig 8 wad in old stock GM cases. It does open the patterns faster than trap loads in my setup, so test your patterns/chokes first. I still like Green dot or WSH for my longer range dove loads (can't find either powder, so Promo it is for this season).

Haven't tried it in handgun loads yet, but it is on my short list once some odds and ends are used up. I will be unlikely to buy HS-6 again if it works out in 9mm and HV .38 special/.357 mid power.

I tried it in 9mm and .357mag. I liked the load in 9mm, but for me but didn't send me with the .357 Mag. And to be honest, I didn't do a work up on .357 so my findings with .357 mag are skewed.
Guess I had enough good loads with other powders that it didn't interest me in .357 so I never went any further with it.
It is one of the powders I keep here for emergency use because it will work for about any caliber out there. But I'll save those work ups for when I need them.

I like it as well especially since I got a almost full 8 lb jug of it from my buddies pawn/gun shop. FREE!
This was years ago. Some guy traded all his guns and reloading stuff. Shop could not sell the powder. The guy had all top of the line equipment. Redding Press some expensive powder measure, I bought his Thumler tumbler for like $20 or so.

I’ve used it in heavy 20ga loads and like it but usually opt for the bluedot as if feels like less of a smack more of a push in recoil.
It made some accurate 41 mag loads as well

+1 on 180 grainers over Longshot in the 10mm. Not my most accurate 10mm powder, but great for range fodder...plus it seems readily available at this time.
10MM 180 gr XTreme plated FP

Definitely excellent for .357 SIG, .40 SW, .45 Super, 9x25mm Dillon, and 10mm...

Personal experience is with the latter two.

Longshot has always been a favorite in 10mm and 40s&w. I tested Longshot in 40s&w with 155gr bullets, and it was very accurate. In 45acp I have not seen very good accuracy yet, but I liked the feel of it. Seemed soft shooting. In 357sig I use Longshot mostly to push the limits a bit, so I don't worry to much about accuracy. For a 124gr bullet so far I have pushed it to 1450fps out of a 3.9" barrel. In 9mm I have tried it, but so far not much luck with very good accuracy.

So I have a 686 6” barrel, haven’t found an accurate load for it using longshot. Don’t have a chrono yet so trying to work off my targets for a sweet spot but not having much luck. Any help would be appreciated greatly. Have been loading starline brass with cci spp with both 125 and 158 xtp

I first used Longshot for 147 gr 9mm loads. While I liked it, I thought it was loud (AKA Loudshot) and a little "snappy". I've since switched to CFE Pistol and haven't looked back (but I didn't throw out my Longshot).
