I tried using the search engine without much luck, hence the new thread. I am seeking advice on a good ball powder that meters well in a Lee pro powder measure on a Lee Classic Turret Press for .32ACP. I will be using Remington 71 grn FMJ-RN bullets with various cases. I currently have Unique, Red Dot, Herco, and HP38 powders, but they do do not do well in small amounts with the Lee. I thought a good ball powder would do better in the Lee or give more consistancy if I were to use a dipper to load. Thanking you in advance for your advice.

AA #2 and AA #5 both meter great and work well in the .32 ACP. I use AA #2.

2.2 Grs AA #@ in Magtech brass with a Winchester 71 Gr FMJ @ .955 O.A.L. gave me right at 700 FPS from my Seecamp at 94 Degrees. ES-27....SD-10

3.2 Grs AA #@ in Magtech brass with a Winchester 71 Gr FMJ @ .955 O.A.L. gave me right at 735 FPS from my Seecamp at 94 Degrees. ES-38....SD-13

These loads are safe in my gun with my load procedure. Use at your own risk.

Thank you all for your input. I have decided to go with both AA #2 and Win 231. I will try loads with each and further refine my decision from there. After all, one can never have too much powder etc.

I got best velocities with #231.
Best accuracy with Bullseye.
60gr Jacketed, 2.7gr #231; 2.5gr Bullseye
78gr cast LRN; 2.3gr #231; 1.7gr Bullseye (very accurate @ 770fps w/2.2"bbl)

You realize that Hodgdon has stated repeatedly that HP38/W231 are the exact same powder? If you're already unhappy with HP38, might want to try something different than W231.

I bought the small disc set for my Lee, and accurate charges using HP38 have metered perfectly. I use it or Titegroup for plinking loads in 32acp.

You are right. I forgot about the smilarity of HP38 and Win231. I have also ordered the small disk set as well. Since my shopping day at the store was set for today, I am glad I checked the posts before I left. Now I will use the Titegroup vice the Win231.

Since I also load for .45ACP, .38Spl/.357Mag and .44Mag this will give me an opportunity to try different loads with these as well. Again, thanks all for the advice.
