Powder sticking to brass?

I was calibrating my powder throw and when charging/dumping powder I noticed some of the powder is sticking to the inside of the brass right up to the rim, even after tapping to get it out. Not a whole lot, but still several flakes of the W231. Not enough to really throw off measuring, as I did it several times with the same case and the "stuck" powder stayed the same amount. The brass has been washed and dried (washed a week ago, so it's not residual moisture).

Question is, is this safe to press a bullet into, or should the entire bullet area be totally free of powder flakes? I assume the bullet would just sweep the flakes back down, but could it detonate from the pressure if a flake is caught between the bullet and brass? How would you ever know if this is happening without checking every charged case carefully?

Newbie being careful before first load!

The powder isn't going to go off during seating and if you fill a case like a 357 sig with AA#9 you can't avoid this. Put the bullet in and pull the handle, you're okay.

suggestion, clean the tip of your powder die with acetone and wipe it with an anti-static rag (dryer sheet or whatever). The cleaner it is and the less staic, the less likely powder is to stick to it and float up with your drop.

Any cleaning solvent that doesn't leave any residue will work just fine. You can use alcohol, brake cleaner, degreaser, etc.

Hope this helps.
