Hello!

I have a beautiful condition, pre 64 model 70, production year 1960. its chambered in .30-06. I want to get a cheap replacement stock for it, as i have a very faint crack, in the tang area of my stock, and since its original, i don't want to try and repair it, just store it in case. Looking at a basic Boyds style stock... but i don't see an option for a pre 64 rifle... only post 64, or pre war (WWII). Being a featherweight i don't have the dog bone, bulge, otherweise known as sight band, on my barrel... can i order either a factory post 64 featherweight stock or a boyds for a post 64 action....

I know you can put a pre 64 in a modern model 70 stock but I do know it needs some work for it to fit , in not sure which floors plates are compatible inlet wise the 2 hole or 3 hole bottom metal , i also would look on eBay they show up at decent prices here and there and at pre64.com for replacement parts in general for pre64 model 70's

Thank you! Maybe I’ll just have the small crack pinned and just deal with it. The stock is beauful but shows it’s age! The metal is near perfect, stock is I’d say 90% without the crack.

What I do with my rifles which mostly are model 70's all vintages is keep the nice stocks nice for display and most sit in McMillan stocks when in the field, you can find win-lite stocks which are McMillan stocks that came factory on some models in 80's and early 90's cheap on eBay and have them bedded and your all set
