pre-lock v. post-lock S&W revolvers

Whilst I prefer older S&W's sans hole in side, I've now gotten 2 of the newfangled wheelguns with the "Miss Kitty" beauty mark (for you youngsters, watch an old re-run of Gunsmoke, re: Miss Kitty); to wit, a 60 and a 629 Trail Boss.

To date there has been zero interaction on my part with the beauty mark(s) and fortunately, zero interaction w/ beauty mark parts during my own little schutzenfestives. But I have read of others issues and realize that what can go wrong will go wrong and Murphy was an optimist.

IF... IF, it keeps future lawsuits and lawyers at bay, IF, mind you, by heading them off at the pass (or one of the potential passes those who wish to break the firearm's mfg's banks love to bring up in court), then perhaps it's not such a bad thing. The zit alone will not stop those who seek to bring about the end of firearms ownership/mfg obviously... but it might help keep some of the added cost of legal representation off of the gun dealer shelves. (That's a lot of IFs)

That and there's still plenty of beautiful earlier pre-locks from which to choose.

The beauty mark looked good on Miss Kitty. I'm not so sure about the high contrast on the 6 series of stainless steel. Maybe I'd better buy one of S&W's new blue wheelguns (that little Lew Horton 25 snubbie certainly looks appealing) as an experiment in lockology aesthetics. I mean, it TIS the season to be jolly and the winter solstice is tomorrow.
