Precision Delta Bullets

Hello,

Precision Delta Bullets like the 230g FMJ for 45acp is this a full jacket or just plated? Was just wondering cause i never used them before. Just trying to figure out a load for them and if they are a full jacket then i can follow my lymans and hornady manuals for 230g fmj.

Precision Delta's 230 FMJ is really a FMJ -not plated. I have used their 9MM and 40 FMJ's and they are top notch IMO. The 230 FMJ is the only 45 Cal FMJ. The other 45's are lead.Their Web Site has a picture and a description of each of their products.They even offer a 100 Bullet sample for evaluation. YOU WOULD HAVE TO PAY SHIPPING ON THIS SAMPLE HOWEVER.I use the same data for the FMJ's for the 9's and 40's that I used with plated Berrys of the same weight and shape with no problems.

I also bought some 45 ACP 230 gr FMJ and 9mm 124 gr FMJ as marked on their site. I wrote them asking how they recommended loading these and they sent me to the Winchester site with not a single powder listed that I had on hand. I do have Bullseye, Universal, Titegroup, Clays, HP-38, AA#2, and Unique but all the listed even close was WST which isn't available in my area. I also asked for OAL with no answer so figured after looking these are FMJ but more like Copper plated and haven't loaded them yet as I also have a lot of lead bullets in both on hand.

Bullseye and unique will work well from my experience. I personally use lead 200 grain SWC bullets and WST.

I have used Precision Delta 9mm with good results. I would use your Lymans and Hornady manuals for 230g fmj loading specs. I usually look at several similar bullets and see what the acceptable range seems to be for the powder I plan on using and work up a load from the lower range.

I load both the 45 and 9 PD bullets with Clays; very nice bullets---not a complete metal jacket but 'full'

Just look at the base of the bullet.

If it is covered with copper with no seam?

It is a plated bullet.

If you can see the lead core, or a copper disk with a crimped seam over the base, it is a conventional cup & core FMJ.

The pics on their site of 45 ACP FMJ bullets show an exposed base. So, they are full metal jacketed, not TMJ (total metal jacket), nor plated (a thin copper electro-plating).

They're good FMJ bullets, I've loaded thousands! And .45acp has got to be one of the easiest loads to load for, just about any powder will do!

Any of the recipes for a 230gr FMJ will work, and OAL is always barrel-specific so load 'em up and enjoy!

Thanks guys since I got a 1000 of both which is what I buy in most pistol bullets when I buy. Rifle loads normally 500 to 100 hundred if for hunting only. At any rate I ordered mine on 1/3/13 and got them on 1/24/13 so not too bad but not as cheap as the same in lead cast.

Precision Delta makes an excellent FMJ bullet. I use them in 9MM and 45.
