Preferred K-frame grips?

Having taken the plunge in the past week and purchased THREE older S&W K-frames (two from 1981 and one from 1969), I have to ask:

Does anyone have a preferred grip (set of stocks) for the K-frame? And why?

One came with a Hogue, one with a Pachmayr, and one with the original S&W checkered wood grips (all square butt).

I like the factory grips for orginality sake, but haven't had a chance to shoot any of them yet. I expect different grips will give me different points of aim.

Right now my sole purpose is range time, though I wouldn't be adverse to carrying either of the .38s. That means a grip that conceals well and doesn't grab my jacket.

I always preferred the original fat butt square bottom "target grips" (vs say magna grips) myself. Run 'em on all my Ks.
I never did grow a fondness for any of the finger groove variants; but your Hogue and Pachmayr should allow you to try that out.
Can be found at places like CDNN for not unreasonable prices.

Like wy said, no, don't change your POA
POI will vary not with the grips on the gun, but with your grip on the grips.
All you really want is grips that fit your hand so your hold is consistent and proper for rapid sight alignment in DA mode.
No one else can really predict what that will be for your hand.

The Magna grips look the best to my eye and I find them comfortable to shoot, I'd never put a rubber grip on any K- frame. It uglies em up too much, but to each their own.
Fortunately grip panels for K models are plentiful and available from E-Bay to Smith and Wesson's store. Enjoy them fine revolvers, they don't make them like that any more!!

My favorite (so far) is the round-butt combat grip

magnas with a t-grip, or an Uncle Mike's boot grip, on a square butt, is what I've preferred. So far, on a round butt, I like the Hogue Bantam, and the Hogue monogrip. I like the looks of that round-butt combat grip.

It depends on what gun they are going on, and I am looking for out of said grips. For a snub nosed Magnum I would lean towards a set or rubbers for comfort. On a 6" target gun I like the hand filling factory target grips. For sheer beauty its hard to beat a pair of Kieth Brown Ropers.

If you can come up with a boogered up set of targets, this works pretty well.

I do think that something needs to be tucked up under the trigger guard to work well - like the T-Grip at a minimum. Does the T-Grip scrape up the frame at all?

Not that I've seen on any of the guns I use them on.

I prefer the original grips Smith put out for the K frame, with a T-grips and Magnas for a compact gun, and the big target grips for the range.

I never did care much for the rubber grips, no matter who made them.

"Does the T-Grip scrape up the frame at all?"

It can scrape up your knuckles! :D I don't know how people can shoot with them, they must all have really skinny fingers. T-grips mash my knuckle HARD into the triggerguard.

It's kinda just trial and error. Try different things and see what works.

Ahrends "retro target" grips work well for me for a ready made grip. ;)

The Ahrends do look nice, and the first groove looks low enough not to pinch the finger.

Pachmayr Gripper Pro.

All my S&W K, L & N-frames wear them.
They just fit my hands.
(So do Hogue Monogrips, but those position my hand lower on the gun, increasing muzzle rise)

If the replacement grips were wood, then I would go with something by Hogue or Ahrends. If it's rubber, then Pachmayr would be my choice.
