A friend asked me the other day if "present day" ammunition that is manufactured for the public still has corrosive primers. I told him I wasn't sure, but that I thought that most corrosive primers were done away with around WWII. Does anyone on here know if that is correct?

I don't know about some of the com-bloc stuff like Wolf and Tula, but all U.S., Israeli, German, Italian and French ammo is non-corrosive. That's the only stuff I have experience with.

I think that the Europeans, Russian Bi-athalon teams still use corrosively primed .22lr for deep cold weather ignition reliability....

Other than that, its milsurp, corrosively primed for the same reason

Even the majority of the Wolf type imported stuff being made now is non-corrosive, as is all US-made ammo. Really not a worry unless you're into buying real eastern bloc surplus stuff, or true antiques. (I've got some 8mm Mauser loaded in the '30s. Really quite corrosive.)

The only thing I come across that's corrosive is the spam cans of 7.62x54r for the Mosin Nagants. The commercial US made ammo in that caliber is non corrosive I believe but the spam cans are a lot cheaper.
