I would be all over this if I was looking to build a new .223 rifle. I just built a new .223 Wylde rifle and I'm now looking at building a new .308 rifle though so...

If I didn't already have enough AR15s, I'd be whipping out my CC now.

I just recently got a LR-308 stripped lower. So that will be my next learning curve.

Me too. AR10 is next on the list even though I already have two. The Armalite is not well supported anymore however so it's time to build a DPMS pattern precision rifle so I don't end up tied to a weapon I can't get magazines or parts for.

Since this is my 1st, I'm doing a lot a reading. I see it's not quite like building an AR15, as in interchangeable.

Yeah, I anticipate having to buy a few more tools. I just built my AR15 and I really like it so far so I don't feel pressured to buy everything immediately. I'll be busy shooting that rifle this summer. When it's time, I'm thinking grey ghost precision matched upper and lower and I'm not set on a barrel yet but the grey ghost uppers are tight so I anticipate thermofitment. I considered a non-.308 build but I think I'll stick with good old .308 to maximize barrel life. I may even spring for carbon fiber wrapped- probably 24" and threaded for a suppressor attachment device. I basically want to build another Armalite AR10T but on a DPMS pattern platform. That rifle is extremely accurate but, being a B model, it isn't well supported anymore and I want to build something that will be good to go in a COMWEC situation.

Damn good price for an 18 in. upper, and I like their stuff, too - they make good stuff.

I have had this 18" upper for a number of years, but with a much better rail of theirs. I had terrible cycling problems with it from the 1st shot that turned out to be an undersized gas hole. Luckily I live an hour or so from Radical, so I took it in there and they said the reason it wasn't cycling was because of the muzzle brake (their muzzle brake, which they has installed) and tried to talk me into just taking the muzzle brake off and using a flash hider. I politely declined and had them drill the gas hole to correct dimensions and now it shoots very accurately.
I have a number of Radical uppers and lowers. Can't really recommend the lowers, but for the most part the uppers are ok. Much better after a few tweaks and adjustments.
I do not know if they ever fixed the gas hole size problem on this particular barrel/batch of barrels. I found out that was the problem from reading a lot of reviewers from different sites who had experienced the same problem.
