I like the it more for look than function. I know what I would do. Get the blued slot screws. Now I would like that it has the look and usability.Hey Jim,
I like slot or Phillips so even with loctite if the come loose in the field it's easier to tighten.
Do you like Allen for the looks or function?
Thanks
The correct pins would not be out of place at all , a nice mosaic pin would fit in right nice.
The screws , are just too large and overpowering for that size handle. Shouldn't need more than 4-40 size screw.
By adding handles and pins you make this a very expensive $81.00 MSRP 1095 knife blank. For 81.00 I could make this knife of the finest Mike Norris Damascus Stainless Steel.
Still $40.00 is a very expensive 1095 knife blank.I agree with you on ruining the finish on it. Even though the pins look good, you would have to like the handle enough to never want to change it. I like that knife just fine with no handle or paracord...but it's interesting to see the stuff people do with them.
Although you can't buy the knife you'd make for $81 though. ...the Rat on the other hand you can get for about $40.
I make a 5/32" filler for the inside of the skeleton in that triangular shape. One side is glued to one grip. Then the screws go through one grip, the filler, then the other grip. Now your talking! Those look great. How do the screws attach to each other?
Still $40.00 is a very expensive 1095 knife blank.
PT1911,where are these available and how much to the run? I really like the looks of em....
I have sold a more than few 1095 Knives for over 200.00. 1095 is great tool steel. It allows for incredible Hamon line. It properly HTed it makes a great blade.Yeah, I have to laugh when I see 1095 blades going for over $200. Nothing against 1095...it's good at what it does and all, I like it just fine but it's not exactly the most expensive steel out there.
