I think everyone here is concerned with protecting their ears. An ENT told me suppressors are the most effective thing you can do when shooting. However, I did come across this.
The military is studying Mg supplements for reducing noise-induced hearing loss. Apprently, it is effective to some degree:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8460390
Soldiers taking the Mg supplement had half the rate of hearing loss as the group that did not after exposure to gunfire in training. It looks like they used a fairly hefty does of Mg during the training period.
I've been taking a 100% RDA pill for a while now. The pills are really cheap though, about $4 for 250, so I think it's worth doing. I think it's too late for my ears, but it might help some of you.
