What are the best measures in preventing rust and corrosion? I feel I take care of my firearms pretty adequately. I always clean them when I come home from the range. However I noticed on my XDm a little bit of orange forming on one of the tiny pins that keeps the polymer frame togther. Im assuming this is from my clamy hands. This frustrates me quite a bit.

Usually when im done cleaning with a solvent ill wipe down the outside of the frame with some CLP. Is this enough to prevent rust forming? Ive also invested in some of those bull frog rust blocker things. I dont have a safe or anything So I store the guns in my closet. Is it a bad idea to keep my guns in there foam cases?

We just beat that to death here this morning.
There is a link in one of my posts to rust prevention product tests.

Never store guns in foam or any other gun cases.

They are much more likely to stay rust free with air able to circulate around them freely.
Gun cases can trap & hold mosture and keep it in contact with the gun.

Eh I live in PA. It gets pretty humid in the summer time. Actually do you think its a bad idea to keep them in my closet? theres a vent in there. So locking them up in my closet probably isnt the best idea eh?

...I live in Tx, and , in my work, I sweat till I'm drenched, causing even the stainless guns I carry IWB to rust...my only defense is to clean and oil them often...I use RemOil but would change in a heartbeat if I could find something that would last longer...so far, I haven't...for guns holstered on the belt, I used Outers or LPS3...
