I bought a couple of Norincos back in 91 and paid $59 each and the case of ammo was $69. I have long since sold them. I checked current prices on them at the last show and prices were running about 169 for Yugos, and 250 for Russians I saw no Chicoms though.
Thanks for the replies, all. My guess is that now that the AWB is dead, the fact that it was unaltered and still had the bayo on the mount is of no consequence? May be a stupid question, but I'm not really familiar with the market for these rifles.
I just got a Chinese SKS without bayonet lug or muzzle brake or anything (clean looking, nice blue job too) in a wood stock but with a synthetic gas tube (I guess they kept the cool stock) for $140 OTD. Buddy of mine has a Ramline stock he's gonna sell me for $30. Not bad for a little short/med. range deer gun for when my CETME is too damn heavy to tote.
If it's in it's original configuration w/ the bayonet mounted that shouldn't be a problem, as long as it's fifty years old.
But then again I'm not a lawyer.
Chinese SKS in my neck of the woods, in good condition, go for between $150 and $225. There are two Russians in a local shop in decent shape for $250, and a paratrooper for $200. I bet I know the price of at least half a dozen SKS's of various varieties within a 10 mile radius in 4 different shops. I wish I did not know these things. I really really do.
