A coworker is offering me a stainless NIB 642 for $300. I don't really need another snub, but is this a good deal? This is the normal Airweight model, not one of the Titanium or Scandium framed ones....
I can't speak for prices down there, but that's a steal up here. I bought one recently, and found through extensive shopping that prices ranged from $450-600.
I was extremely happy getting one for $450
There's also a S&W $50 mail-in rebate for new J-frames, including the 642. It lasts til the end of the year... so make sure you get a receipt if you want to cash in on that!
Right now, I have 'em od sale for $379.88 with a S&W mail in rebate of $50;
making my gun cost $329.88 + sales tax; so YES you're deal at $300 is an
excellent buy~!
I always consider Gunbroker.com as the easy check on what things are selling for.
The lowest I saw was $329 and they went up to $449. Many had no bids at this price.
Seems like $300 is a good deal if it's what you want.
That's a great price for a S&W Airweight. One thing though, if your coworker bought that revolver recently he might have already gotten the $50 Rebate. That might be part of the reason for the low sale price.
