What's the average price of the Browning A-Bolt Composite Stalker and Stainless Stalker models with BOSS in .300WM? I've seen a few of them selling on Gunbroker for around $600 or so, supposedly NIB.

I'm intending to buy this as a do-everything hunting rifle for any medium to large critter in the lower 48 states. I'm not completely sold on a particular caliber yet.. still reading posts on TFL and elsewhere before I make my selection. (For anyone interested, .300WM is in a three-way tie with .30-06 and 7mm Rem Mag)

Thanks,

May want to do a search on Gunbroker for some street prices. There seems to be quite a few listed.

Last new A-Bolt in my preferred shot was a wood/blued model for $490. Think it was a 270 with no BOSS.

There's a used one here in 7mm-08 for $350 on gunbroker.com

$479 for CS in .30-06 from normally expensive local dealer almost two years ago. No Boss. I think they'd had it for quite a while. Really nice, accurate gun.

Check GunsAmerica, there's a Stainless Stalker without BOSS, with scope and rings in 7mm Mag for a fair price.
I got a used SS without BOSS with Williams open sights installed and Leupold QD bases for $490 last year. I suspect it was a distress sale. I personally wouldn't want the BOSS.
Good luck with which ever round you choose.

Thanks for the tips. I just found out there may be a gun show this weekend, so I'm going to go nose around and see what can be found.

At work (Dick's Sporting Goods), we've got a composite stalker w/ BOSS in 7mm mag for 589.99. We had a 300 Winmag until I sold it awhile back; it was the same price. We don't carry any stainless stalkers with BOSS, though, so I can't quote you a price on that...

Decided to visit my dealer on the way back from the gun show today.. He offered me a used Savage 110 synthetic stock in 7mm Rem Mag with Simmons Whitetail optic for $250. I told him I was interested but had to check out reviews of the rifle online before I made a choice. What do you think? Do I hold out for the Browning, or run back and buy the Savage?

Edited to add: The Savage was tagged at $350, and the shop owner offered me the discount because I'm a regular customer (and a repeat buyer) who drops in every few weeks to see what's new on the shelves. :D

That's a fair price for new! I have a Stainless Stalker in 300WSM with Boss. I love it but, I knew I would love it before I bought it! Stick it out for the Browning, you can always pick up a Savage inexpensively. ;)
