Hey guys, could I get a current price check on a mak-90. Not sure if its pre ban or not. I dont know what the difference is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

A preban will have a bayonet lug, possibly a folding stock, threaded barrel, etc. Does yours have a thumbhole stock?

The difference is a few hundred dollars IMO. Although either way, they are fetching more money. The easiest way to tell is to post a picture if possible. Then there will be 500 people on this forum telling you all about it.

To get you started, as to its value....How much would you sell it for, knowing you may not be able to replace it? If you are buying, How much is it worth, knowing you may not be able to buy one in the future/ Right now the going rate seems to be 800+ for the "Post Ban" and likely well over 1000 for the "pre Ban" This is just my opinion, prices may varry by location, and someone will come on here telling us all how they got theirs for 50 dollars.

One thing to be carefull of is the 922r regulations. Hopefully yours complies if it was a post ban, and was modified....

Search 922 or 922r on this web site and you'll find more than you want to know about it.

Thanks guys. So I'm trying to decide whether or not to buy what seems to be a post ban with a thumbhole stock for $400. I guess the answer would be yes?

That's a good deal in the current political/economic climate. I had a Norinco Sporter Mak-90 about a year back that I sold for $400, and the prices have gone up about 25%+ since then. I have seen the crappy WASR-10's go for $500+, and the Mak-90's go for nearly $700-800. I'm not saying that I would pay that, but others have.

For that price you should not. Please give me the name, address, and email address of the seller so I can report them ;)

Yes buy it!!!

If it is in good shape that is a great deal (IMO). It's actually last years pricing, before the run on Evil Black Rifles.

If you want to put on a non-thumbhole stock then you can get the USA parts for the convesion for about 200-250 dollars. Stock, Trigger Group, Muzzle Device, and/or gas piston. Familarize yourself with the 922 r laws (Its not that bad).

IF you dont buy it, you should do us all a favor and lets someone know the information on it, becasue that is a heck of a deal! :D

Mine is in decent shape, and I'm selling it for $500 with 3 mags and some ammo. Buyer (Have not sold it yet, he is waiting on Tax return) wanted me to put the synthetic thumbhole stock and black tapco galil hand guard back on it. It was setup with a Romanian folding stock and US made Bulgarian knockoff furniture, but I guess the buyer is always right. I see these other MAK-90s up in the 6-700 price range and think to myself ***, I can't in good conscious sell it for that even though others are. I know people are worried about a new AWB, and so am I, but I'm not looking to get rich off someones panic buying.

That's a pretty good deal and roughly what these things cost before all the hysteria. By the way, if it is a MAK-90 it is post-ban ('89 ban that is). The "M" is for "modified"--thumbhole stock, no bayonet lug, no barrel threads (though a few made it through with the the lug and/or threads).

It seems like any AK under $500 is a rare deal these days. I'm not even really in the market, but if *I* saw this locally, I'd jump on it.
