I managed to pick up a nice S&W model 36 today. Chief's Special .38, blued, wood grips. The grips are nice color, the gold medalion in them is perfect. Gun shows very little use, is super clean, no rust, no pitting, lock-up is nice and tight. The big burning question is...what's a S&W 36 going for these days? If I want to sell it, what's a good price?
By the way, there's no dash in the model number, no lock, I called S&W and they told me was manufactured in '87. Hope that helps.

I have to say, I'm surprised how often these types of threads are posted. If the big burning question is, "What is this gun worth?" why would you charge ahead and buy it without first learning the answer to that question?

try it out brfore getting rid of it. you may be very surprised. the 36 is a true classic.
imo $325 give or take on value. i picked up a flat latch, pinned barrel nickle plate that is 95% quality for $400. imo that was a steel but it was what i was after for awhile so.
been very happy with it, it ccw's well too

I didn't buy it. I'm a plumber, did an emergency repair today and my customer "paid" me with her recently deceased husbands gun which she wanted out of the house because she was afraid her grand-daughter would find it.
I've had 36's before and I'm quite happy with the old 70's/80's Charter Arms revolvers I have and carry everyday.
I'm just trying to get some idea what the 36 is worth so I can SELL it.
By the way, I hate the grip on the 36, doesn't point naturally for me, points too high. I either have to regrip it, or sell it.

Gotcha, sorry for the misunderstanding. And yeah, the T-Grips are great and look great too.
