I was just at the gun store around here this afternoon, and they have a Yugo SKS for $185...now, that being said, I'm not expert in what they should cost.
The dealer at the store acted like $185 was a good price, but what else is he gonna say????????
As for a Yugo at $185.00...unless it is in VG to Excellent condition I'd say they were asking way too much. I've seen some dogs advertised for almost $300.
In my neck of the woods $179 was a very good price for excellent condition yugos They were going $250 plus at the gunshows
You'll be hard pressed to find a centerfire semi-auto rifle with 1000 rounds of ammo for less than $350 OTD
$149 for a shooter is worth doing IMHO
Though I remember the days when stores had crates of Chinese SKS's for $89... Shoulda bought a bunch then
:banghead:
I'd buy it at $149 unless you have to have a bayonet then get the Yugo. I don't like unchromed bores if I have a choice and the gun's inaccurate anyhow.
Let me put this in perspective: I went to a local gun store today, and looked at some long guns. They had one SKS that I saw, and it was $360. If you find one in good shape for $150, you should probably go for it.
Any Chinese for 150-200 dollars is a good deal nowadays.
I also dont like the un-chromed bores.
part of the the SKS experience is not having to baby it and using it as a beat around rifle, and the chrome bore just makes more sense especially when using questionable ammo.
BTW, My Norinko is plenty accurate out to about 100 yards which is a good practical range for what I use this gun for.
We like to take old cinder blocks and hit them at 200 yrds. man do they explode!
