What would be a reasonable price for a DW 15 2-V pistol pack in good shape including all 4 barrels and the tool. I found one for $700 and see that they often go for quite a bit more. The latest book of gun values lists it at $500 in 100% condition and $395 in 98% condition. Are there a lot of differences that I should be aware of to look for?

Because of the revolver is not widely known or traded, the price is difficult.
An average price for a VGC 15-2 heavy barrel is $400-500.

As a Dan Wesson fan and an owner of a 15-2 VH with 2" and 8" barrels, I would say it is a decent price. If you are trying to make money, pass. If you want a very nice revolver, especially with the Pac, buy it.

I agree with Red Cent....if you are keeping it to shoot that is a great price for the PAC. They are great guns and it will say Monson on the frame if it is from 1977. As far as the book you reference those prices aren't found in the real world.
If you buy it and shoot different length barrels you will have to record POA/POI for the different barrels but it's only needed once unless you change slug weight. The short action takes a bit of getting used to but the shorter lock time is great for accuracy. Ive owned mine for almost 30 years and still shoot it regularly.

Not to thread jack, but I recently picked up a Dan Wesson model 15 and I have noticed the book prices aren't anywhere near what they are going for. What are some more realistic prices from someone with experience, going by grade like the blue book?

I have seen pistol pacs go for around 800-1200 normally. I have a 15-2, its a solid gun. I would pay around 600 for one and be pretty thrilled.
Most gun value books are severely out of touch with the actual market. They are typically used by low-balling pawn shop owners or collectors to justify the piddling amount they will offer a seller for his piece or to minimize trade-in value.
I would pay anywhere from $350 - $450 for just the pistol (Model 15 2V with one barrel) depending upon condition ($500 for a pristine LNIB specimen). Shooter grade DWs are commonly found at gun shows and shops in the $300-$375 range.
A complete pistol pack would get definitely my attention for $700, assuming the weapon and accessories are in 95% or better condition. That's a good price (especially if it's a private sale with no sales tax or NIC).

Used Dan Wessons are a bargain as price has not yet caught up to the quality workmanship, performance, and accuracy exemplified in these revolvers. Kinda like CZ semi-autos a few years back...better guns than their asking prices reflect.
Almost any DW will hold its own with a comparable Colt, Smith, or Ruger and in most cases will actually be a more accurate handgun. Usually significantly more accurate.

That is good to know, mine has some wear but nothing severe and I was just looking for a good shooter. Got out and shot it today and figured out thats just what I got

Sounds like a steal to me if it's a complete pistol pac. Yesterday i sold a 15-2 with 2, 4,and 6" vented half lug barrels for $600. There was carry wear on the cylinder but the rest was 98%.

I hadn't ever really looked at a DW before and saw this one locally. Thanks for all of the advice. I picked it up this afternoon. It looks nearly new and like it has been shot very little. Everything looks great with the exception of the 2 1/2" barrel... it looks like someone may have tried to remove the shroud with pliers. It is just a couple little marks under the sight on each side; guess they figured out it wasn't gonna work. I figure that is the barrel that I am least likely to use anyway. The kit included the patch, but no buckle. Thanks again!

Two years ago had sort of considered putting mine up on consignment-the gun shop quoted me $150-$200 as a fair price to sell it. This is a 6" barreled 15-2, made in 1982 in Monson, at least 90% condition. Blueing is starting to show some plum color in the right light. Picked up a 4" vent-heavy barrel from CZ, which is what it wears now.
Needless to say it's still with me, and I really enjoy shooting it.

Based on that barrel wrench and grip I'd say that is a 1977-78 Pack, probably a five digit or low six digit S/N? There should be one more part with that barrel wrench, a hex-headed barrel "spud" with two prongs to engage the barrel nut

You are right... it is barely in the 6 digits. The warranty card states purchase in July 1977. The hex spud is in one of the envelopes along with the extra front sight inserts. It looks like it is all there except the buckle. Hoping to get out and try it next weekend. Do you use the standard 6 thousandths barrel spacing?

Six thou is a good start but make sure you measure every charge hole to barrel for clearance as they can be different lengths so gap it off the longest charge hole. For lead slugs I might go to eight thou whereas jackets will be a tight six for me. Experimenting is one of the great features associated with the Dans.
