Decapping some 44 Spl I had two primer cups split while sizing. It left the sides in there.

Anyone have any success getting the remains out? I hate to scrap two good cases.

I have had good luck with an awl or a small flat bladed screwdriver. Just try to catch the inside lower side and use the opposite rim as the fulcrum. Or tap a triangle shaped wedge between the side of the pocket and what is left of the primer then move the punch sideways to collapse the ring. If you do not scratch the side of the primer pocket while removing the ring you are good to go. I would not chance using it if there was a scratch to let hot gasses escape however.

Drill a couple of wood blocks so you can clamp the cases in a vice without damaging them.

Then use an awl & small hammer to tap in from one side enough to get it bent in a little without damaging or scratching the primer cup in the case.

Once it bends in on one side to relieve tension, it should fall out.

I'll give it a try. If these were 9mm or 223 I'd toss them in a second. 44s of any flavor are hard for me to get a hold of though.
