Primer POW

Had my first accidental detonation of a primer while reloading.
I prime on my press.

The case started to back out of the holder & the primer got crunched.

When it went "POW" it ripped the case out of the shell holder.
Not too terribly loud, but startled the gronk outta me.

(Had to go check my drawers).

The chip out of the rim of that case is an excellent reminder to wear eye protection. Glad that it was minor.

Yep, it happens. Anyone who used one of the old Lee hammer-it-in dies knows the sound.

The way it ripped the case out of the holder demonstrates the power of a primer, and why multiple detonations can be deadly, and how it can push a bullet halfway into a barrel all by itself.
