Is there a better faster way to fill the primer tubes on a Hornady Lock n Load? The VibraPrime is apparantly no longer available and the Dillon is very expensive. Thanks for your suggestions.

I always admired the Lee system. There has got to be a way to adapt that to filling primer tubes that hasn't been exploited.

With the Lee progressives the primer feed is also a primer flip tray with an opening at the bottom. To load up you open the tray and drop in the primers and then put on the cover. Then gravity feeds them down into the opening and they can be directed just about anywhere.

Maybe I'm just not loading enough, but I really don't find primer tubes to be THAT big of a pain. It takes maybe 3 minutes to fill one. You can do it on the dining room table while listening to music or watching TV, and have 1500 ready to go by the end of Mythbusters.

to me, it seems like this "solution" takes longer than just filling the tube by picking the primers up one at a time. I prefer to fill 10 tubes at a time while watching TV and then loading 1,000 rounds and calling it a day.

I don't find it an issue myself. Loading primer tubes is just part of the loading process when I'm using one of my machines that requires primer tubes. I can load them pretty quickly and it's just another step.

Hope this helps.

The Vibraprime is outstanding. I think I may have bought the last one.

I HATE filling those tubes one primer at a time. It causes my hand to cramp up something fierce.

If not for the VibraPrime, I'd buy the Dillon, I hate that chore just enough to make that purchase worth while.

The one in the links provided by Otto looks like a winner for low buck. After someone pointed out that Vibraprimes were going for over $120 on Egay, I parted with mine. The Dillon is expensive but also quite impressive.

Granted this my not be for you and not all your primers will be indexed in their sleeves for this to work perfect. When they land on their sides all you have to do is brush your (clean)finger over them to make them lay dowm correctly. Once they'er in nice rows it takes less than a minute to load the tube. 12,000 loaded in tubes, 25 minutes. I assume you use primer pick up tubes.

^^

You're a frickin' genius!

I knew I was missing something, using an empty primer tray is a great idea.

I was thinking... man, if only those primers came anvil side up!

Glad you are smarter than me, but at least now I know what to do

I do something quite similar to donttellthewife except I just use the tray that comes with the RCBS hand primer and them flip them. Very easy.

Also... sometimes with the Small Pistol primers you can grab them directly from the tray with the pick up tubes. The LP don't seem to have the room to grab them in the tray they come in.
