The other night I was refilling my Dillon SDB LP primer pickup tube with Remington LP primers to reload my SDB primer tube. It would fill about half way and jam up tight. So I had to push all them back out and start over which made a big mess as they came out on the bench and some ultimately on the floor. I'll add, the shop was very cold!
Has anyone experienced this problem?
Do you suppose the aluminum pick up tube was contracted from the cold or were some of the primers over size?
I did not have any issues during reloading (except for the 3 spp cases I ran into and pulled aside)

Odd that you would post that issue, I have the same issue. When I measured the jamb it appears to be about 1/3 of the way up the tube and stuck good. I wonder if one flipped over or I did something wrong. The tubes are old and I think I will just replace them anyway but damn what a pain.

Call them up and they will send you a new one. Bad things will happen of you set them off in the aluminum tube trying to get them unstuck.

I had the same thing happen recently, and I'd never had that happen in years of use. What ReloaderFred says, is right. My setup had been unused for some time,, and aluminum can form a tiny bit of oxidation it seems, and it really is prone to sticking, like a galling of sorts if not cleaned. I've found that silicone spray on a little cleaning patch works wonders for any aluminum surface, it only takes a little, and lasts a long time.

On examination, I did notice some scratches inside the tube. I'll clean it, try a little silicone, retry it, And then call Dillon. Mine is less than a year old. Thanks guys.

Just call Dillon and they will solve your problem. Give the bad one a shot of WD40 and trash it. Have had that problem before.

I,m not positive, but believe that is the same LPP pickup tube issued with my 550b. I have that happen fairly often and tube is clean and shiny. I believe it is due to the diameter/heigt ratio. It aloows them to get turned or "cocked" slightly in the tube. Usually, slightly tapping the tube with my finger dislodges the stuck puppy, I have however had to dump them out once in a while.

Leave a note on the Dillon website... they are very good at getting back to your post and solving it with advice or replacement.

I will be doing it too now that I'm thinking about it.

I had the same problem several years ago and finally isolated the problem to one lot of Winchester primers. Other lots of Winchester fed fine, and other manufacturers' primers all worked fine. It just about drove me crazy for a long time trying to isolate the problem. I finally figured out that that particular lot of primers were just very slightly out of round. :cuss:

I buy primers in large quantities and had to sell the remainder of that lot to a buddy for his use. I replaced the bad lot with a new lot number and those all fed fine. I have about 20 large primer tubes and I had the same problem with all of the tubes. You might try another lot number and see if you have the same problem.

I had the exact same problem with some Wolf LPP. Got rid of them and it solved the problem. I did mention it to the clerk at the Dillon store and he gave me some new pick up tubes.:D
