Priming off Press

For all handgun rounds I use the auto-prime on my Dillon 550. I modded my primer feed a little while ago with one of these:

and haven't had a flipped primer since. For all rifle I use an RCBS bench mounted:

Works great, uses standard shell holders.

I looked at this as an option, I was also trying to stay away from primer pickup tubes. and then there was the price, $28.99 for the Lee plus $15 for their proprietary shell holder set. I thought that was pretty reasonable. I am sure the RCBS is a better quality tool.

My father in law broke my old Lee hand priming tool a couple years ago and since then I have primed everything on my turret press. This spring I bought a Lyman hand priming tool on sale just to have another option on hand. Well two days ago I primed 1000 rounds of 223 sitting on the couch watching my daughter and I must say that is the biggest piece of crap I have ever bought. The primer flipper tray does not work, every tenth primer catches on the shellholder when it comes out of the tray, at least 1 in 100 will turn sideways, and it does not align the primer with the case worth a hoot so you have to sit there moving the case around and spin it around to get the primer in. Never again. My hand is still sore.
