Pro Auto Disk problem

So.....I completely disassembled the powder through die and the PAD system, cleaned everything, reassembled and recalibrated the die. It's now dropping 4.2gr nine out of ten times and 4.3 the other time. I guess something must have just gotten out of whack and now it's back to performing as it always had in the past. I'll continue to weigh every charge for a little while then go back to weighing every fifth one. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I want to thank everyone for your great suggestions and your help. I figured I could count on the members of this forum.

I was wondering what everyone was going to use to run over their measures ?I have a truck but thought about using a tractor.I have six should I run over them all in one pile or spread them out. Thanks goodness for the internet I've used them for years didn't know they were junk I feel like a fool should have known.Never used spaghetti powder in them maybe thats why they worked so good for years.

I'm not sure if you should use a tractor or truck. I don't think my truck would hurt my Hornady, or my RCBS other than break the plastic hopper on them.

As far as my Pro Auto Disc goes, I've been using it for 25+ years with no more problems than I've had with the other 2 brands and I not getting rid of my Pro Auto Disc. It just plain works to well.

I know what you mean. When I have problems with one of my measures I have a hard time learning to trust it again. I guess that's why we are suppose to check every 10 charges until we discover we're wasting our time, then we go back to business as usual.

I'm glad you got it working again.

That's What I am getting using Red Dot. It's pretty bulky and fills the case well. .2GR would be noticeable. You noticed the change and that is the good thing. Seems you were use to what the load should look like, if so rejoice because not everyone does. ;)

Glad it's fixed.:)

Tractor is good. I'd spread 'em out though, to make sure you dont miss any.

Why would you want that Lee stuff ? I hear it's all junk !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I sold almost all my RCBS & Hornady stuff & replaced it with Lee stuff. My LNL AP was replaced by the Load Master. My RCBS dies were all replaced with Lee. I have some CH4D that I use but everything else is Lee. I hated both the UniFlo & the Hornady powder measure but love my 2 Lee Pro Auto Disk measures.

I have no issues at all with my disc system, just need to know it's limitations. I was responding in jest. The Lee system works perfectly

As a final follow up......on Monday, I once again began having inconsistent powder drops with my PAD, then it began sticking in the hopper up (powder drop) position. This time I called Lee and talked to Jim who advised my to take the system apart, remove the spring and actuator, clean everything and reassemble it, lubricating with powdered graphite. I did that it it works like a champ now. No sticking, full disk travel and it drops 4.2gr of Bullseye ten out of ten times. The only difficult part was stretching the spring and reattaching it without losing my grip and having it fly around the room. The problem is finally solved.

Funny, I'm replacing my Loadmaster with a LNL. The loadmaster isn't terrible but hated priming on it. Never had feeding issues just when changing from small to large primers is a pain. The having to fill it with 20 extra primers so they would feed your required amount (put 120 primers if loading a 100). My OAL were all over the place even with all the mods and tricks. Didn't like how it index either. I use Trail Boss and I had to go really slow so powder doesn't spilled all over. I do like the Auto Disk though. My Loadmaster now will be set up for sizing a trimming 223 with a Dillon RT 1200. Will see how that goes. Do love my LCT for 223 though.

Sometimes when one adjusts the die depth in the press to modify the amount of flare it puts on the case mouth, one uses a slightly longer case to arrive at this setup. If one were to use a shorter case thereafter, it might not raise the expander plug high enough in the die to fully actuate the powder charge bar. You might try threading the die in a little bit more to assure that the charge bar slides all the way over.

Due to the design of the mechanism, you simply must put a little flare on the case mouth in order to fully slide the charge bar to the end of its travel to assure that the powder charge completely dispensed into the case.

HTH.

I don't mind the extra primers but I'll agree it slams into the next station a bit hard. I didn't mod mine since it isn't broke I didn't see a need in fixing it.
