HOLY SMOKES!!!

How could you guys forget Kurt Russell. He sponsored the celebrity shootoff until the media got on him for being politically incorrect. Big-time hunter and gun ownership advocate...

Who cares?

The whole Hollywood establishment is so disconnected from the American people...what difference does it make where they stand on guns or anything else?

I have a word for you: Irrelevant.

Well, we're having fun, so there. Had any lately?
_________

"Steven Spielberg isn't pro gun" You know that link you posted has ZERO info to back up your statement.

Edited to add: That pic I posted is on the Fabbri site for all the world to see. Doesn't look like the man is hiding the fact he owns guns.

I agree that this doesn't much matter.

Most often once these people get a few bucks in the bank, and see that there is a little thing called the "black list", they tow the "hollywood line" real nice, and don't make too many waves. Just smile pretty for the camera, and you'll get your check, dummy.

That is, unless they're already famous, then 1% of them may turn out to be a real person.

My opinion? they don't get it, because celebrities don't usually get mugged, robbed, or killed out of the blue, because they have bodyguards.

Not long ago, somebody mentioned that entertainers are only experts at acting. They have no place telling us how to think about anything. It does surprise me that so many people on this board care about celebs stance on guns. Gun owners in general are not the star struck type. By the way, Clint Eastwood was mentioned. Clint is a Libertarian, and Libertarians are as a rule pro gun.

Incase anybody cares, here is an old thread on this topic:

I'm inclined to agree with neoncowboy on this one. It seems as though we're grasping at straws trying to find actors/celebrities who may actually share some of of views on guns. However, the reality is that few of these people ever espouse their views on RKBA, or whatever level of passion they may have for guns, routinely, regularly or even publicly in any sort of high-profile manner that would make a difference.

I respect guys such as Gerald McRaney ("Simon & Simon," "Major Dad,", etc.; a long-time, outspoken gun advocate), Tom Selleck, Charlton Heston. These guys always made public appearances in gun-oriented settings and were tremendous advocates for RKBA when they appeared on talk shows, etc.

Others, such as some of the young actors and actresses occasionally mentioned in the "pro-gun celebrity" threads (which crop up every other month, it seems), may have brief flirtations with firearms and share their excitement about an early range experience or working with guns in films ... but then you never hear from them again.

I respect only the actors/celebrities who are outspoken on issues that they know may not be politically correct. Few enough of them make use of their celebrity to help our cause. Hence, I'm not gonna jump on the bandwagon and get all excited 'cause some new hot young actress professes her love of shooting after filming the latest zombie-killing action flick ...

Frankly, we in this country seem to care all too much about what our celebrities think. As I've noted before, most of us have far more real-life experience than any of these actors/celebrities, most of us are better-educated, and almost all of us know far more about the things that matter in this life than any twenty-five year old, college-dropout, multi-millionaire actor ...

I don't much care about their politics, I just like knowing which ones actually like to shoot and maybe even own guns. And they don't all have to be $100k Fabbris like Spielberg owns.

Guns in movies, guns in cartoons, guns owned by mall ninjas, guns, guns, guns, we're happy talking guns.

Is that okay? ;)

"I don't much care about their politics, I just like knowing which ones actually like to shoot and maybe even own guns."

Exactly.

I think some of you are reading too much into the reason why I posted this thread. I just wanted to know who shoots and enjoys guns and who doesn't. That't it. I'm interested because these are people that I and everyone knows about, and it gives you certain insights into celebrity personality. And, no, I don't think the opinion of a celebrity is more important than an average person or a politician.

You mentioned Eva Longoria...

http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/celebrity/92822004.htm
Longoria plays a gun-toting Secret Service agent in the upcoming crime drama and co-star (Michael) Douglas has revealed the stunning actress was the best shot out of the two.

He said: "The FBI, Secret Service, and state police all said that she probably shot better than 90 per cent of the police officers in the country."

Longoria has lifted the lid on the secret behind her gun-wielding skills.

She is quoted on website Premiere.com as saying: "I'm from Texas, so I've been shooting a gun since I was six. It was fun, though, because I don't get to do that on 'Desperate Housewives'."

Drew Carrey had a interview on a NPR show once and disclosed that he was a former marine. He also made some comments about being armed at the time of the interview, said one of the benefits and cost of celebrity. That in a hypocritical state like California he was given the benefit of a gun permit, while his fame made it even more necessary that he carry one. I believe he had a serious stalker at one time.

Also pro gun celeb is Henry Rollins He has talked about being shot and having his friend murdered in LA at the same time over what turned out to be a misunderstanding of gang colors. Said "the gun did not pull its trigger. had I had a gun, his buddy would still be alive"

Annual Hollywood Celebrity Shoot @ Las Vegas

Every spring (about May I believe), there is a Hollywood Celebrity Shoot at a country club in Las Vegas next the PMC Ammunition plant where a regular group of celebrities, their spouses, significant others and kids turn out to do some matches.

The funds raised by the event go to a Foundation that teaches kids about firearm safety. Doesn't get Mainstream Media national press, but they do get local TV & press coverage in the Las Vegas area.

Steve McQueen (When he was alive)

Lee Marvin (When he was alive)

Was John Wayne a pro-gun celebrity? I think he was.

Was William Holden pro-gun?

Edmund O'Brien,was he pro-gun?

Ernest Borgnine,was he pro-gun?

Was Clint Eastwood pro-gun, or a giant anti-gunner?

Humphery Bogart and Cary Grant wern't pro-gun apparently?

Nor I think was Errol Flynn (When he was alive)

Vinnie Jones-Ex-Wimbledon FC Premier League footballer-turned actor definately is.

Jeremy Clarkson (UK presenter of BBC Top Gear-Motor/sports car show)You guys in America may of seen him on Sky or on BBC America.

Boris Johnson-UK Conservative MP and Tv presenter, who usually presents documentaries. You may of seen him on Sky and BBC America.

I just saw a episode of "The Drew Carey Show" & according to it, Drew is a BIG gun supporter even when his girlfriend whines about "your 3 times more likely to be killed with that gun than a BG".

John Larroquette is both a Libertarian and pro-gun. He'sa member of the Varmint Hunter Association's 500 Yard Club

Speaking of Tom Selleck, have any of you seen the movies where he plays Jesse Stone (based on the Robert B. Parker series)? There's a brand new one on this Sunday night. They generally do a good job with the gun stuff they show. Good movies.

Hey, aren't a lot of those rap and hip-hop celebrities pro-gun? They seem to be involved in enough shootings to lead me to that conclusion.

Dan M. - You stole my thunder. Snoop Dogg (aka Calvin Broadus) is a *huge* fan of firearms, and from what I understand ain't afraid to admit it. (or show it. or use it.)
A real role model...

Bill in SD

Steven Seagal was turned down for a carry permit for NYC -Apparantly people with a history of domestic violence have a hard time convincing the selection panel they are stable.

Robert Deniro and Howard Stern both have permits, but I don't think that necessarily translates into RKBA support.

Even if Eva Longoria is gorgeous, and can outshoot Michael Douglas, SHE WAS STILL IN A MOVIE WITH MICHAEL DOUGLAS! (For those who might not have known, Douglas went to the U.N. to support a global small-arms ban, and promised to lead the way in America.)

from what i have read about the manson murders, they all were pro-gun at least for a little while.
