I've put about 230 rounds through my new-to-me 1076.

It feeds, fires, and ejects great, and is quite accurate, but on a couple of occasions, I have fired to slide lock, dropped the old mag, inserted a new one, given the slide a yank to chamber a new round, and.... nothing happens, the slide catch doesn't disengage, and the slide stays locked back. I've got to pull the new mag out before the slide catch will disengage.

Most of the time it works fine, but this has happened a couple times now, and I would like to take care of it. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Out of spec mag body or out of spec slide catch maybe?

Out of spec mag body
Probably the culprit. Insert an empty magazine and watch through the ejection port while you slowly pull back and ride the slide forward. You will probably see the slide release get binded up by the mag body. A little Dremel action should do it if this is the case, but go slowly. A little Dremel action, then try again. Repeat as necessary.

Yeah, I agree. The description sounds more like a mag problem, rather than a slide release lever/catch problem.

Only thing is, I believe it has happened with more than one mag, but it is difficult to replicate. Hopefully I can try to get a look at it next time it happens.

Well, you've probably already marked your mags so as to be sure which ones it's happening with. If not, you might consider doing so.

Best of luck with it.

I have not; when it happens again I will set aside the one(s) that it happens with for inspection.

It never locks open before the mag is empty though.
