So on it goes. After fixing my indicator problem, I now notice another issue. Several times the gun would not lock open after the last round. And, upon sending home a full magazine, the slide would drop!!!

More reading on the fnforum and I find that there is an issue with mag springs. Maybe not strong enough to push up on the slide lock, or the slide lock spring is a bit tight and needs breaking in.

I tried to drop the slide by hitting the mag well with my hand. Sure enough, after 4 slaps the slide rides forward.

watching the slide catch after each slap, I can see the catch move more and more downward, with less and less contact with the slide notch.

So, I flexed the slide catch spring up a little to make its downward force a little less, and I take some 220 grit sand paper and just barely roughen the slide catch where it contacts the notch in the slide.

Again, Voila! no slide movement. I actually pounded the emply mag well on a hardback book cover to really try and jar it loose and no movement. Mags still drop free.

Wow. alot of tinkering with a 'new' gun.

If people ask you if a Sig is worth the extra $$, I would say in my case, yes. I have the 220 in ST, and have had zero issues with it. I cannot get the slide to drop no matter what I bang it on.

Still, I like the FNP USG. it feels good in my hand, has nice controls and sights and has 15 rnd capacity. And the gun and 4 mags and the shooters pack cost me $550 shipped to NJ, and includes the ransom, er, transfer and nics fees.
