Having one little problem with my 1894 .44 mag I was hoping someone could give me some advice on.
Sometimes, usually with a full tube I will go to rack the lever to chamber my first round and when I move the lever all the way out the first round will exit the tube like it should. But the next round in the tube will move too far out blocking the loading ramp from moving back up. I will have to take a screwdriver and very carefully push the round back up into the tube so I can close the lever.
Clearly this is an issue. I was thinking that the loading ramp may be worn out but before I go putting a new one in I figured I'd get the opinion of you folks.
I'd like this handy little carbine to be a companion i can rely on but it is currently not. Thanks in advance.

This happens with factory loads or reloads??

OAL cartridge length is critical in any lever-action.

Reloads. Ive been crimping them slightly high in the canniluer. OAL is under what the manual calls for so I didn't think it could be that. I could see how OAL could affect chambering, but this isn't a chambering issue.
I try not to buy factory .44's. Too much money haha.

What brand of brass are you using? IIRC, Rem brass is just a fraction smaller diameter on the rim than Win.

Also, you may have the worn follower (or is it shell lifter? can't remember) do a web search on "Dreaded Marlin Jam"

Ahh....here you go...link re: Dreaded Marlin jam

What i did to fix my Marlin in .44Mag..fresh shell was spit out of the magazine before the empty cleared the action

You're welcome. Hope this helps you resolve your Marlin issue. The 1894 Marlin is a nice, very handy carbine. Put a couple of Bambis in the freezer with mine.

Now, you need a Vaquero or Blackhawk to keep it company while stomping about the woods-n-fields :D :D :D :D

Hello the camp! Hope you found your problem and fixed it. When I experienced the same problem, it stemmed from the front screw of the trigger housing being loose, allowing the following round to bollix up the works. I carried a stubby screwdriver when I used that rifle. Funny--only that carbine had the problem; my two kaboy Marlins never missed a lick. hth mm
