Some times when i cycle the bolt on my mosin the gun decocks.
Take your bolt apart and make sure it's put together correctly
(this is how i decock my mosin when i dont want to fire it)...
Screw for the sear/spring piece is probably loose. Remove the action from the stock and check. If not, replace the sear/spring. It's not protruding enough.
if mi carrying the mosin around with one in the chamber i just pull that cocking piece back and twist it to the side to lock it back... i only decock when im cleaning it or doing something with the bolt and dont want to dry firenote... do not carry an uncocked mosin with a round in the chamber. Your firing pin will be resting on the primer, and a sharp whack to the back of the bolt will set the rifle off.
i agree, i would like the OP to do a further inspection, perhaps take photos of the parts mentioned for further analysis of the problemWhatever it is, it is very unsafe and should be fixed before you put any ammo near it!
That's actually the best course of action. AIM has been very good to me, but I've never had an issue with what they've sent me.I just got this mosin and was very disappointed that it was not in working order. I called Aimsurplus and they are send me a replacement gun to my FFL dealer.
