Problem with my Mosin Nagant m91/30

Are you talking about it decocking when you close the bolt? If so:

1. Keep your booger hook off the bag switch.
2. If that's not the case, there's something wrong with the cocking-piece/sear/trigger and it needs to be fixed before anything else goes wrong, like an AD/ND.

If it's decocking while you're opening the bolt, there's something seriously wrong with the bolt. It's a cock-on-open design and the cocking piece should be locked in place. If it's cocking piece is rotating after you get it open, the bolt body and/or cocking piece need to be replaced.

when the nagant bolt is closed, the trigger hooks the cocking piece of the bolt and holds it and the firing pin back under spring tension... if you hold the trigger down while closing it, it wont be able to hold the cocking piece back, and the rifle decocks (this is how i decock my mosin when i dont want to fire it)... if youre not holding the trigger back when this happens, then you probably have a worn or broken piece on the cocking piece of the bolt (the rearward most section of the bolt) or the trigger itself... inspect both parts for excessive wear or breakage

note... do not carry an uncocked mosin with a round in the chamber. Your firing pin will be resting on the primer, and a sharp whack to the back of the bolt will set the rifle off.
if mi carrying the mosin around with one in the chamber i just pull that cocking piece back and twist it to the side to lock it back... i only decock when im cleaning it or doing something with the bolt and dont want to dry fire

Safety First!

Please take the time and money to have your rifle inspected. I had my Mosin-Nagant inspected before I shot it - it only cost me $15.00. Mosin parts are not expensive to replace, and for that matter, neither is the whole rifle! The Mosin-Nagant is so simple, there is little that can go wrong with it, so I'm sure that a competent gunsmith can find the problem. I'm sure the problem can be easily resolved. Take care...:)

I just got this mosin and was very disappointed that it was not in working order. I called Aimsurplus and they are send me a replacement gun to my FFL dealer.

That's actually the best course of action. :) AIM has been very good to me, but I've never had an issue with what they've sent me.
