I took my Ruger P95DC apart last night. I've had the pistol for years and have never had a problem before. When I replaced the slide I did something wrong. :cuss: The slide only goes back part way, but it fails to move as far as it should. I can't access the part which moves down into the magazine well during disassembly. The barrel and recoil spring are sticking out the front of the slide and won't budge. I tried calling Ruger but didn't have the time to spend on the phone awaiting for a customer service rep.

Any suggestions on how to remove the slide?

OK I don't own a P95 but from what I understand it's camblock system is similar to the P345. If you don't have the guide rod aligned properly it will catch on the edge of the frame rails and stick out farther than normal. I've never got it fully assembled this way, but I imagine if I did it would be similar to what you're experiencing. Can you shift the recoil spring sideways at all one way or the other. It sounds like it is wedged out of place and that is what your problem is. Maybe try some love taps with a rubber or wooden mallet to deflect it sideways?

Good luck.

See if you can get a dental pick or something similar and go up from the bottom of the magwell to pull the ejector down so you can remove the slide.

Rantingredneck: You were right. I eventually found a very old message from THR which said basically the same thing you said. I clamped the guiderod into my vise and pulled back on the grip and twisted slightly. When it came forward everything went back into place. Not exactly sure what the guiderod was hung up on, but it wouldn't budge before I placed it in my vice.

Thanks

Glad I could be of assistance. I've almost done that a couple times with my P345 and my P90. Never got it all the way together that way but.......

Take care and enjoy the Ruger.
