Problems field stripping new Springfield 1911

I just purchased a new Springfield 1911 LW .45ACP. I was field stripping it, but when it came time to remove the slide release I pushed as hard as I could and it would not budge! I've field stripped many a 1911, but this is my first Springfield. Any others you have to give a little push, but they usually pop right out. I'm almost read to tap on it with a brass punch, but I don't want to bugger the slide release up. Any suggestions? Anyone experience this with a Springfield?:banghead:

Sounds like the plunger pin is caught in the slidestop slot between the arm and the lug.

Not to sound stupid, but is the mag out of the firearm? I made that mistake once

Well...I was stupid enough not to think of that...

Yep. That'll do it, too.

Try rocking the slide back and forth as you try moving the slide stop pin out. That should work. I have a Springer, that method worked for me. Shoots like a champ it does.
