Have any one had a problem with Ea Witness 45acp Wonder 2005 10rds? I tried to shoot Win 230 JHP today and every one of them jammed on the ramp. Pull the slide back and let go and then it would go to battery. Had to do this with every round of the JHP. Had no problem with hard ball. Sent a email to EAA today about the problem and to see what they want to do about it.

Thanks,

Good luck with EAA. :)

Lotta times with those pistols the extractor is what causes the rounds to hang up on feeding. The round has to slide up the breech face and under the extractor. If the extractor has a bur on it, might do that. Rims are not consistent from one brand to another.

It's not unheard of for a gun to not like a particular bullet (especially hollow points or semi wadcutters).

You could tried "deburring" it. Do not change the chamber or feed ramp dimensions! Take a very fine stone or sand paper and smooth the chamber edges very slightly.

Also, never admit to doing any sort of modifications to your gun when seeking warranty service.

Might try a different magazine also.

If you have not yet installed a +power recoil spring, order a three pack today from Wolff Gunsprings. I have a few of these pistols in 9mm/10mm, and .45. They come from the factory with extremely light recoil springs. I had to respring all of mine to make them run with the hotter ammo.
The recoil springs come with a +power firing pin spring. Be sure to intall that as well!

I'd try a Mec-Gar magazine before I'd send the gun back to EAA as you have to pay the shipping to return it. Other than that they fixed my cracked slide very quickly.

I've had lots of troubles with EAA magazines, but all my .45ACP ones have been fine. I think the Mec-Gars are better made.

Unless the rounds are not slipping up under the extractor (check that it moves freely) my experience has been jams against the feed ramp is a magazine issue, often a stronger magazine spring and/or tweaking of the feed lips is the cure.

Stronger recoil springs in my EAA guns have generally made things worse.

They appear to have a tendency to reduce the lifespan of the slidestop considerably.

Excellent advice. The Sabatti mag that comes with the pistol is of lesser quality compared to a Mec-Gar. I had feeding issues with my Witness .45 and solved it by taking one of my spare CZ-97 mags and installing the Witness mag base plate. Since then, my Witness has run beautifully.

There is a really great guy on Gunbroker I just bought a brand new Mec-Gar, 10 round Witness mag from, $27.00 inlcuding shipping, a great price. He has more if you need one.

My Witness .45 has been just about perfect, shoots everything I've tried in it so far. I have 2 factory mags, and two Mec-Gar mags and other than the color of the follower, I can't tell the difference between them, they all work great! My friend has an identical Witness, and other than a tendency to pop the mag on the first shots unless slammed in (Mine did it too, a couple of times right out of the box) hard. It appears his two factory mags have a slight burr on the latch slot and it hasn't worn off yet.

Good luck, hope you get your gun fixed ASAP.

I emailed them about it. Their response was to call them, so I called them at 10:00am CST on Monday. Had to leave a message, this is the second call I have made to them, the other was 2 weeks ago right after I bought it. Their message said they return all phone calls between 2:00pm to 3:00 EST. I still have not heard from them, from the first or second call.

What poor Cust service! I regret buying an EAA now! I will not ever buy another from them again!
