i recently purchased a ruger bisley super blackhawk hunter in 44 mag...

well, this gun is unfired but i am already having a problem with it...it is a minor problem, but a problem nonetheless...

the grip panels on this gun are shifting along the grip frame, no matter how hard i tighten the grip screws...i can't get the grips to stay put...they are properly fitted on the grip locator dowels in the grip frame, but they are still shifting...can anyone help me???

i am hoping that the problem has to do with the grip panels, rather than the grip frame, but i cannot see anything wrong with the grip panels...this is driving me crazy...

boy am i having some bad luck with guns these days...about a month ago, i purchase a NIB remington 870 police that had to be sent back because of a faulty shell latch, and now this...brand new guns are giving me some problem...jeez...

First off, stop tightening that grip screw! It has nothing to do why the grips are shifting and tightening it too much can break the grips.

Either the grips are not properly fitted, or the holes on the inside that fit over the grip pins are too big. Is there a gap between the tops of the panels and the frame? Pics would help.

Put a small dab of clear silicone adhesive caulk on the small tapering protrusion on the frame at the top. If the positioning pin is not a tight fit, put a very small dab there too. Slap on the grip panels and s n u g the screw with the panels positioned just how you like them. Let it set. Fixed. Make sure you seal the silicone well. You will need it again someday. This is so common I would not even classify it as a problem.

the right side panel fits like a glove...even without the screw, they fit on the positioning pin and is snug against the grip frame without any movement...

the left side is another matter...they fit on the positioning pin, but there is alot of space between the top of the grip frame and the grip...

and by the way, i have broken a pair of grips by overtightening on another blackhawk, and i am very wary of overtightening...that is not the problem...i just think that the left side grip is just out of spec...

so you guys don't think i need to get a new grip frame??? i really don't want to mess with silicone adhesive, not because i can't, but because i feel that a brand new gun should have everything in working order, without me having to fix it..after all, this gun is brand new and has not even had one round fired from it...but thanks for the suggestion...

There's nothing wrong with the grip frame. Maybe you could call Ruger and ask for another set of grips. Ruger grips are pretty sloppy, you might even get some that are worse.
