I was shooting some Remington 115 MC UMC ammo (green box, 50 RD boxes) in my CZ-75 the other day and had one Failure to Extract. The CZ is a stock gun and religiously clean. I was just wondering if there were issues (other than being VERY dirty) with Remington UMC ammo.

Speaking of dirty; I shot 9mm and 22 the other day, out of semi autos, and shot the same number of rounds with each. The 22s were federal 550S. (mm was were the UMCs. The 9mm Remingtons left my CZ way dirtier than the Federals did with my 22.

It worked fine in some factory loaner guns I had. then I bought a value pack for an article on silencers. It short c ycled in a SIG 226 with can and in an MP5 with integral suppressor. WW white box works fine in severa stis and my 226 x5 competition.

I'd try the ww stuff or some s&b before getting at all concerned about your gun.

My 75 shot Rem with no problems.

Do you still have the stock 'extractor spring'?

I had problems with mine (FTE) with aluminum cases. Replacing the stock extractor spring with the extra power spring offered by the CZ Custom Shop and Gunsprings.com / Wolff Springs, fixed the problem.

Inexpensive and easy to replace.

I bought 250 9mm UMC's the other day and shot 150 of them today through my Kahr E9 and CZ75b. Both guns liked them. They seemed very consistent to me, and not underpowered. Not scientific of course, just seat of the pants feel.

I can say with most certainty that WWB has experienced some sort of huge manufacturing problem which got out the door. I had a box of those today and
some would not fire, some fired very limply, and some looked like they'd been put together with a hammer and saw. The last 3 100 round boxes I've had were all filled with bad rounds. This is not usually the case, but recently something happened, have no idea what it is, but the quality took a nosedive.

....had one Failure to Extract.

This is why any self defense course will make you run clearing drills on semi auto's. One failure to eject out of 50 rounds with inexpensiv ammo isn't a problem, 2 or more times in a magazine would be an indication of a problem with either the pistol or the ammo.

good point.

the 100 pack of ww i bought at a gunshow last month worked fine. I just got another one at wally world and hope it will be ok too. who knows? but I did this with the first box:

I have had a 9mm remmy umc round fail to fire. After ejecting the round and pulling the bullet I found out that there was no primer hole at all.
That alone convinced me to never purchase remmy umc ever again. Drop the brand and spend a little more. Shooting low end ammunition in the long run can be counterproductive.

Just to be clear, I believe the WWB problem is recent and an anomaly. I've never had problems until recently. Normally, I look at WWB as a chance to get reasonably good ammo at a good price. I still feel that way but i'm not going to purchase anymore for a few months.

No problems with Remington Green Box (usually pick it up at Dick's when they have it on sale); no jams, no FTF's, and fairly accurate. Haven't noticed it to be any dirtier than WWB.

Had a UMC failure to feed

I picked up one of the big yellow 250 round UMC mega-packs about a year ago. In addition to being rather dirty, one cartridge got stuck on the feed ramp of my CZ-75B.

I don't think there was any crimp on it. The bullet had been pushed as far as it could go into the case. I haven't bought any more of it since.

Remington UMC 9mm is weak and - if you ever have the chance to pull the bullets and weigh the loads - inconsistent. I found a powder variance of of around 8% which may not sound like a lot but can explain a shotgun-like pattern at 15 yards.

My EMP would not lock the slide back on the last round and the short barrel amplified the poor quality control.

Remington components are great, but there is something lacking in their mass-production assembly line that results in powder-drops being all over the map.

Bought a 250 round box of UMC (yellow box) a few weeks ago and ran 50 rounds through my Springfield XD-m this past weekend. No problems, but I should also say that after around 1000 rounds, my new XD-m has yet to have a single failure to fead, eject or fire problem.
Did note the UMC didn't group as well as other ammo, but that may have been caused by the type of drill I was trying along with increased speed. I'll know more about the grouping when I get to a range with a bench.
