I got a box of 115gr 9mm Remington UMC FMJ.

The bullets look like they are seated a lot deeper than other brands.

Am I missing something?

Thanks. :)

Green box.

Side by side with a WWB cartridge (both are 115gr) the Remington is shorter.

I bought a box of the cheap Remington green box hollow points at WalMart - 100 rounds are very cheap. 1 problem w/ them, though. They are the brightest ammo I have ever shot. I shoot at an indoor range that is somewhat dark. I'm almost blinded by these things. I'd hate to shoot this stuff thru a comped gun. Geeze...

I have the megapak. it is slightly shorter.
Though it is slightly shorter, it has never caused any problems in my USP9 or 92FS. Shoot it, if it doesn't work, it's your gun. :D

remington megapak, pmc 9a, win nato, blazer.

I had two boxes of those also and fired off about 20 rds. and had some feed problems with them.
I noticed when I started to load the next mag there was to much room
in the mag and then I compared them to another brand they were to short.
I was told by a Moderator on another site that being shorter can cause
higher pressure when fired, luckily no damage to my new CZ Rami.

I bought the Megapack once and found about 3 bullets that had more "setback" than the others. I didn't use them. I recently purchased some 38spl SWC from an online reloader, and one of the bullets was loaded backwards. You really need to look all this stuff over before you shoot it.

Bullet setback is not so near a critical problem with the 9mm and .45 acp.
Setback can be a real issue with .40 S&W because the load pressure can spike to 4 times normal with less than .5mm (500 microns) setback.

I just shot up a couple of Remington 9mm MegaPacks and while there were no quality issues the overall accuracy of these cartridges was really dissappointing.

The UMC is good, cheap ammo. I have found it much cleaner burning and more reliable than the WWB, and a bit more potent than Federal American Eagle. UMC is also made in the USA; WWB is foreign. I have had several duds with WWB over the years, probably fewer than 1 in 1000, though. But I've never had a UMC dud.

I'm willing to pay the extra ~$1 or so per 100 rounds for the higher quality, US-made UMC ammo.
