This winter, a friend and I are planning are first hunting trip; since we are both novices, we decided to simply have a professional prepare the meat. Unfortunately, it seems like nearly all processing plants are adamant about not having a website :banghead: This makes verifying whether they process deer, what their prices are, etc very difficult; more importantly, there doesn't seem to be any feedback on these businesses.

I essentially have several general questions about deer processors. I understand each processor won't be the same and naturally will be calling up the processors to verify.

-What is the most-reputable deer processor around Harrisonburg VA (near where 81 and 64 cross).
-What is the average cost per white tail deer? Is it done by weight or deer? Essentially, how much should I expect to pay out.
-Do you need to field dress or skin the deer before bringing it to the processor?
-How much meat can I expect to receive back per average white tail deer? Better yet, how much volume will it take (I got to drive back to Richmond to store this at my mom's house  ... space is limited at the college I go to).
-Is it worth it to get the meat vacuum sealed? I expect to be storing the meat for months.

Thanks, I really appreciate any information. I understand I am talking about a specific region but hopefully some locals read these forums :D
