    Is that a 1960s penny under the floorplate? :D

    He is local, former tattoo artist, formally trained in hand engraving. Makes a living mostly selling his chainsaw carvings.

    Woodwork is nearing completion on Project Mannlicher.
    Next time we see it should have some great checkering.

    As an FYI - those cartridges are made from different brass - as last I measured their base, it came out to the .470" or .473", not the .480" that 6.5x55 SE should be.

    Not a whole lot to show per se, stock is at a friends house getting checkered, this is it half way through:

    Got first coat of finish in the new checkering, picked up a nice Leupold M8 fixed 4x for it as well.
    Only thing we are waiting on is the bolt handle which is a figured walnut ball to match the stock.

    Bolt work is done. Bolt handle is walnut root and should match the stock nicely.

    That bolt handle is gorgeous! Threaded on I assume?

    It is indeed. The handle was threaded and the ball has a metal insert.
